Antonietta Collins
Antonietta Toni Gonzalez Collins is a Mexican American sportscaster. She is the host of SportsNation and is a SportsCenter anchor. She joined ESPN in 2016. was a part of ESPN. She is the daughter of Maria Antonieta Collins, a journalist on television. Antonietta is native to two languages. When she was just nine years old, her ability to converse in two languages led to her obtaining an employment in Miami as a production assistant for Univision. Then it was announced that the CBS subsidiary of St. Petersburg employed her as a sports reporter. In 2009 she relocated to Texas to Rio Grande Valley where she was a news reporter at KNVO TV 48 Univision. Then she became the anchor and reporter for Univision Dallas' Deportes 23. The station then gave her larger responsibilities. She did pieces on Major League Baseball's ALDS ALCS and World Series the Dallas Cowboys the NBA postseason and the NBA Finals FC Dallas and the Dallas Stars. She also produced Univision 23's local sports channel Accion Deportiva Extra, on which she served as anchor. She was advertised as anchoring sports to Despierta America Deportes' morning show. Also, she was anchor of the sports segment in Primer Impacto, a magazine program that airs on the UniMas Network and Contacto Deportivo. Antonietta Collins was a native of Veracruz Mexico. She was born November 22, 1985 in Mexico City. She has an elder sister. The family relocated to Miami after relocating from Mexico to the US. Soon after the family split up, and in 1995 Fabio Fajardo remarried. He passed away from kidney cancer in 2006. She stayed with her family in Canton Ohio with her older sister over the summer in which she was given an opportunity to work. Antonietta who was in high school with an idea of what she wanted her future to be like, visited Mount Union University to determine whether the university was suitable for her. At the end of the day she fell in love with the school. They also offered her a the opportunity to study a major. She graduated from high school and was enrolled in media studies at the university. Mark Bergmann, her professor who was also the WRMU's 91.1FM station where she worked for many years, became a friend. Mark Bergmann was the person who instilled her faith and confidence, as well as whose enthusiasm in Journalism touched her deeply.
